Match: Game v. Adelaide
Date: Sunday, 29/11/2009

The AIS played another home game in Canberra on Sunday 29th November against Adelaide United. We were confident we could get our first win after drawing 4 – 4 with them in Adelaide 3 weeks ago. Our coach, Gary van Egmond, said before the game that we should aim to keep a clean sheet again like last week.

In the first half we had a number of chances to score. They also had a few good chances however our goalkeeper, Lawrence Thomas, pulled off some awesome saves at point blank range to keep us in the game. The score was 0 – 0 at half time. Gary was relatively pleased with us at half time and asked us to continue in the second half the same way as the first half.

However, unfortunately in the second half we tired and conceded 2 very soft goals including an own goal. Eli Babalj had a few good chances up front for us but the Adelaide goal keeper made some very good saves to keep us scoreless. The score was 2 – 0 to Adelaide at full time. We were disappointed with the result because we thought we could have played better in the second half and at least held on for a 0 – 0 draw.

We play Sydney next week in Sydney and will be looking for our first win. We haven’t played them since Round 1 when they beat us 1 – 0. We have improved heaps since then and we think we are in with a really good chance.
